Primary Level:

LIFE talks assist learning in Year 6, regarding growth and development.

Our talk “Life before Birth” is specifically for Year 6 pupils. Starting at the two cell stage, we look at the growth of the baby in the womb. We centre on the uniqueness and wonder of development, encouraging pupils to understand that everyone is special regardless of their strengths and weaknesses. Our presentations are interactive, pupil-centred and use a range of visual aids e.g. DVD, models and leaflets.

Secondary Level:

Topics LIFE presents include:

• Perspectives in the Abortion Debate -analyzes the evolution of the abortion debate, pro-choice arguments and the pro-life response.

• Pushing the Boundaries of Science - An analysis of Ethical and other issues of concern in the debate on Human Cloning and Embryonic Stem Cell Research.
   
• Designer Babies - Explores issues in the use of modern reproductive technology, the emergence of designer babies, real cases and the possibility of a movement towards eugenics.

• Euthanasia Explored - Looks at Britain's gradual movement towards legalized Euthanasia, examines pro-euthanasia arguments and their flaws, and explores relevant issues arising here and internationally.
   
• In the Beginning -A thought provoking look at the question of when LIFE begins. The uniqueness of the human being, and the awe and wonder of the development in the womb.
   
• Managing a Relationship- The Route to Happiness - Examines what is happiness, how it can be found in human relationships and its relevance to high rates of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

Our approach is professional and sensitive, as we understand that some students may have encountered these issues at a personal level or know someone who has. The intention of the talks is to provide factual and credible information/arguments so that students can be informed and arrive at their own conclusions.
